Winning Podcast Meagan Chorney and Host Mackenzie Kilshaw

In our recent podcast episode, we had the privilege of conversing with Meagan Chorney, a multi-passionate entrepreneur, mental health advocate, mother, wife, and mentor. Meagan's entrepreneurial journey, like many others, is a testament to resilience, determination, and grace.

Meagan’s entrepreneurial journey began during her final year at university, where she launched her first company. From there, her journey continued through the challenges and triumphs of selling her businesses and currently running two ventures, Connect Permanent Jewelry and Life Design Creative Studio. Her experiences have shaped her approach to business, revealing invaluable insights about navigating entrepreneurship and motherhood simultaneously.

One of the key topics discussed in the episode was the delicate balance between motherhood and entrepreneurship. Often likened to a high-wire balancing act, these two roles can demand an entrepreneur's time, energy, and emotional investment. Meagan shared her own struggles and experiences, particularly the pervasive sense of "mom guilt" and the importance of setting realistic expectations.

According to Meagan, guilt often arises when mothers feel like they are not giving enough to their children because of their business commitments. However, Meagan believes that setting realistic expectations is crucial to overcoming this guilt. She suggests that it is not about achieving a perfect 50-50 balance but understanding that some days require more focus on one area than the other. This balance is dynamic and fluctuates based on the needs of the moment.

A strong support system is another essential aspect of successfully navigating the entrepreneurial journey. Having supportive partners and team members who understand the demands of entrepreneurship can make a significant difference. Effective communication, both in the home and business environment, is critical to ensuring that everyone is on the same page.

Meagan also opened up about her current businesses, revealing how she embraces vulnerability and trusts the process of change. She believes that shifting interests and passions are normal in both motherhood and entrepreneurship. Remembering our 'why' is crucial to navigating these changes and getting through challenging days. For Meagan, changing direction does not lessen a business's success; it is merely another part of the journey.

Overall, Meagan Chorney's entrepreneurial journey offers numerous insights and lessons for aspiring and established entrepreneurs. Her experiences remind us that it's okay to be vulnerable, to change direction, and to balance multiple roles with grace and resilience. The journey of entrepreneurship is a winding path filled with triumphs and setbacks, but as Meagan shows us, it's a journey well worth taking.
